The problem, plainly. Most modern currency systems are built on debt — meaning the system as a whole depends on continuous borrowing simply to keep functioning, and most people spend the majority of their working lives servicing debt of one kind or another rather than building genuine security.
The question we’re asking. What forms of exchange and value creation exist, or could exist, outside of a debt-dependent model — and how do we build genuine economic security without needing everyone perpetually indebted to make the math work?
What’s happening in this Initiative. Members are researching mutual credit systems, local currencies, and alternative economic models already in use in various communities, and drafting frameworks for what a Circle One approach to shared economic wellbeing could look like.
How to get involved. Open to Full-tier members. This work benefits from people with real financial, economic, or entrepreneurial background, as well as anyone who’s simply spent years thinking hard about why the current system feels stacked against them.
