The problem, plainly. Modern industrial agriculture is largely organized around distant commodity markets and shareholder returns, not around nourishing the communities nearest to where food is grown. This has come at real cost — to soil health, to food quality, to the independence of the people who actually grow it.
The question we’re asking. What would farming look like if its first purpose was feeding nearby communities well, with the land left healthier for the next generation, rather than maximizing yield for a distant market?
What’s happening in this Initiative. Members are studying regenerative agricultural practices, food sovereignty models, and shortened supply chains already working in various places, and drafting frameworks for what this could look like applied more broadly.
How to get involved. Open to Full-tier members. Farmers, gardeners, and anyone who’s simply paid close attention to where their food actually comes from are all welcome contributors.
